I believe the body is linked to the world in an elemental way through our perceptions and experiences.  I am interested in the notion of the self as an assortment of multiple personae, and that our bodies can provide an opportunity to challenge naturalized societal boundaries. My body is the site on which characters dwell, are documented, and then removed.  I use everyday moments, props, and gestures to construct and explore these characters.  I consider a performance successful when the audience finds themselves unable to turn away, perhaps uneasy while watching something that is universally human and private, and responds with uncomfortable silence or laughter.  I take pleasure in the tensions produced by pairing conventional situations with their more controversial reworkings.  These social divisions act as a feedback loop, allowing my audience to investigate its relationship to culture and self.
